MODULE 7 - WORD MAIL MERGE

SYNOPSIS:
This course covers the Mail Merge process. Tasks include using Mail Merge; modifying the data source and main documents; and creating mailing labels and envelopes. Students will also learn how to select and sort records and use an external data source.

PREREQUISITES:
Users that know the basics of Word and want to increase their productivity using Mail Merge

THIS MODULE INCLUDES:

Using Mail Merge
Working with Mail Merge; setting View options; starting a Mail Merge; creating a form letter and the data source; adding, removing and rearranging fields; saving the data source; entering data; viewing the data source file; inserting merge fields; previewing the merged data; merging to a new document and to the printer.

Modifying the Data Source
Editing the data source file; adding and deleting a data record; adding, removing, and renaming a data field; sorting data records.

Modifying the Main Document
Modifying and updating the main document; inserting, deleting, and formatting merge fields; detaching a data source file.

Creating Mailing Labels
Using and creating mailing labels, getting label data, selecting label options, inserting label merge fields, merging to document.

Creating Envelopes
Creating envelopes and the envelope document, getting envelope data, selecting envelope options, inserting envelope fields and a postal bar code, merging to document.

Selecting/Sorting
Merging a range of records, filtering and sorting data records, using multiple filters, sorting by multiple fields.

Using an External Data Source Working with and viewing external data, using an Excel data source, inserting data records.
